Cutler manipulates Hal to revert to his violent blood-drinking ways, and the blood triggers an overdrive state in Hal. When Alex, his girlfriend, meets him for a second date, Hal repels her with crude, erratic behavior, and she leaves angrily—only to be followed by one of Cutler’s men. Meanwhile, Eve, from the future, reveals to Annie that in her timeline, most humans are dead or imprisoned in concentration camps, with vampires ruling the world, and Hal is the ruthless leader of this new vampire revolution.
